paperboy
Funny, while enjoying myself on Facebook I stumbled upon The Daily Mail list of “Things that Give you Cancer.” Some things on the list are age, air travel, allergies, artificial flavors, baby food, bath water, being a woman, being a man, being skinny, being southern, breastfeeding, broken hearts, bubble bath, calcium, cereal, coffee, dogs, Facebook (huh!), internet, lipstick, modern living, money, older fathers, perfume, rice, soup, shaving, war in Iraq, working and the list ended on x-rays. Reading the list made me shake my head in disbelief and amusement that I burst out laughing!
These things seem satiric but can surely scare people. Where are the scientific bases of these listed things? If you take it seriously, you’ll end up suffering life instead of having fun.

From news to …

The Daily Mail Newspaper is the second biggest newspaper in terms of circulation in the UK with a publication history of more than 110 years. You’d think that a newspaper with more than a century of publishing would check the veracity of its reports and articles.
The list is long, and honestly, the listed causes are ordinary day to day occurrences. It makes you anxious. Personally, I don’t know how my personal habits of shaving and turning on the lights at night can make my cells grow cancerous.

What the cancer expert say

The World Cancer Fund Foundation proposed a casualty of cancer. They are the following:
• 5% gene related
• 10% environment related
• 30% smoking
• 15% lifestyle factor specifically physical activity
• 15% infection notably viral
• 25% food-in short what you eat

Most news from the newspaper though turn around the 10% casualty of environment. It had proved to have more impact since then. These are things you can see, smell and taste.
That list make you realized all the misinforms you can get from that newspaper on cancer. You don’t get the crucial facts. If you’d like a sober discussion of cancer causes go to cancer experts and hear them out. Don’t educate yourself by reading some newspaper who wants to up its sales by disseminating misleading news. And don’t be very believing. Don’t lose sleep over it. So just sip your coffee or tea while you connect with friends on Facebook.

Nice lists Mr. Davies!
