However this treatment, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and an even surgery come with a price tag. We are more inclined to sickness and there is a higher rate of obesity, diabetes, hypertension or osteoporosis than a group of people of the same age. We are more at risk, but cancer research shows us what current evidence, we can look for.

Cancer treatment can affect the health of our bones. Bones not only provide structure that we can move, walk, and run, swim and do our daily routine; they also provide our blood and immune system. Radiation treatment and medications can reduce hormone levels that are important to our bones. They create a higher risk of osteoporosis. Advances on cancer treatment are always associated with hard work and new technology. There had been a lot of work which deciphered things about our bodies most especially at the cellular level. We’ve come to know more of our genes, the study of which is called genomics. And someone thought that cancer is a genomic abnormality. According to Danny Hill, an inventor and a scientist, an advanced view of cancer is not about those genes. Genes are more like ingredients in a menu. What those ingredients produce – the proteins – are what are important in cancer. This new mind boggling concept of cancer research is called proteomics. One is not enough

Even so, broccoli alone may not be enough to prevent cancer. Just one weapon to fight a many headed monster is risky. You don’t get out of the house on a bitterly cold winter day with only a hat without gloves, warm coat and boots. You’d freeze to death. The same thing rings true when preventing and battling cancer. A cancer mass is a very complex entity, built with defenses to survive and kill. Employing one strategy decrease our chance of survival. more…
