Vegetable soups a cancer prevention

When I was a teen, my mom use to tell me to eat my soup because it would help me grow. Mom was right and she could have also added that it could be used as a cancer treatment.

For example, the intake of tomato, cabbage, broccoli or garlic helps the body to eliminate cancer causes, thereby reducing their capacity to induce mutations in DNA like an antioxidant and to favor the appearance of cancer cells. Some molecules like lycopene and flavonoid present in these foods even act on several aspects of cancer progression and maximize the protection offered by the diet. Resveratrol from grapes or red wine, for example, acts on the many processes underlying tumor development. Soy phytochemical, in addition to being a phytoestrogen protective against hormone dependent cancers, is also a powerful inhibitor of several proteins involved in the uncontrolled growth of cancer cells.

So pick your soups especially in the cold weather – it will warm your heart and protect you.
