Natural foods heal diseases naturally. Herbal foods offer more than just a spicy twist to your taste buds. It can help you fight cancer. From ancient times comes garlic. Cultivated 6,000 years ago, garlic had been traced in China. As it rapidly gained fame, it spread to Italy. Then a garlic route spread this tangy herb to the rest of Europe.

Magic touch

In earlier times, garlic was associated with healing rituals. The ritual consisted of a garlic bag and an angel to exorcise the illness. When the person recuperates, the garlic bag is burned. Talk about magic potions, this thing called garlic works.
But don’t get me wrong! It’s amusing to learn how our ancestors managed illnesses. I don’t have anything against ancestral beliefs. Proving how they actually work is another thing.

Cancer researches

Cancer research discovered that garlic acts on cancer proliferation. It checks cancer growth by increasing the number of cancer cells that self-destruct or what is termed as apoptosis. Normally, cells that aren’t fit to survive have an innate mechanism of suicide. This stops the transmission of abnormal genetic material. On the other hand, cancer cells with their abnormal genetic material keep on replicating instead of self-destructing. This proliferation of mutant cells sucks the life out from their victims. It had been proven that garlic makes these cancer cells commit suicide!
This process works on cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and other types. Currently, a few clinical trials are underway. Happily, we’ll know more about how garlic works.

What to do

Garlic is available in grocery stores. It’s easy to cultivate it though. Use a fresh clay pot and position in a cold spot. The herb has thin long leaves adding beauty to your kitchen garden. There’s no need of a fridge, hang the firm bulbs to dry when uprooted.

Bottom line

But garlic alone can’t cure cancer. I’ve always advocated that cancer can’t be fought with mono-therapy. Like in the battlefield, for eradicating those stubborn cancer cells we need to fight on different fronts. The standard regimen works. It is proven that foods can give you an edge and a healthy lifestyle gives you a chance. Add garlic as a supplement.

The downside is garlic creates an unfavorable after breath. To lessen this, eat garlic with other foods. Fit it in your cooking with your daily 5-10 fruits and vegetables. This increases your chances of defeating those cancer cells before it overwhelms you.
