You’ve been wondering what else you can do to beat cancer? One of the best ways is to utilize the amazing potential of your immune system. Your body is endowed with natural defenses that guard the integrity of our bodies against foreign invaders such as microorganism and yes, even nasty cancer cells. How can you direct your immune system to do the job? Imagine that your immune system is composed of soldiers ready for action and go to war at the drop of a hat. But before it can do combat efficiently, it is necessary to train it well. One perfect way is simply eating the right foods. A study reveals this strategy.

Scientific research

The research study consisted of 100 volunteers. 24 hours previously, these volunteers started manifesting cold symptoms that included a feeling of general body malaise, stuffy nose, sore throat and sniffles. The study would measure the time in hours when those cold symptoms would clear out. This would be a measure of effectiveness of the management afforded the group.

The 100 volunteers were divided into two groups. One group was given water to drink twice daily for ten days. This group would be considered as the control group. (Consuming a lot of fluids is the general recommendation for colds.) On the other hand, the members of the other group were given a beverage of green tea, ground grape seeds with grape skin and mushrooms.

Significantly, the group who were given a beverage of green tea, ground grape seeds and mushrooms reported lesser symptoms. Obviously, the drink made from functional foods boosted the capacity of the immune system to work against the cold virus.

How it work

Thus, simply eating functional foods sharpens the potency of you immune system. These functional foods control extra inflammation produced by the body. In the long run, this inflammation would kick start the evolution of cancer. Surprisingly, these functional foods work like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as aspirin without the danger of side effects of peptic ulcerations.

Evidently, this beverage concocted from functional foods fortified the immune system and the body’s defenses against the cold virus. The results are clinically measurable especially with people whose immune systems are impaired.

Bottom line

Eat your daily serving of 5-10 fruits of vegetables daily. You’ll pack your immune system with a lot of power

One Response

  1. Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the main reason the immune system fails to respond to cancer because it is a condition effecting the body’s own natural cells (as opposed to an outside pathogen)? The immune system only recognizes the problem once the cancer has grown too large for it to deal with effectively. in which case, how does having a stronger immune system help? Or maybe I am just confused… care to clarify?
