max-gerson

Who is Max Gerson

He is a German doctor who developed a diet against his headaches. This diet was applied to other illness like tuberculosis and cancer. The Gerson Cancer Therapy is one propose alternative treatment for cancer. It utilizes a special diet with cold coffee enemas. At a closer look, we see here one element of a scam: cure multiple illness.

Plus, daily enemas are dangerous. It can cause infection and inflammation of the bowels. Frequent enemas cause electrolyte imbalance, affect the functioning of your heart and may cause death. Fortunately, the therapy isn’t approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.

How they say it works?

The proponent claims that cancer is caused by the accumulation of toxic substances such as fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides from food. They lower the potassium content of the body while there is a high sodium concentration. This creates fertile ground for the changes in the metabolism of the cell and cause cancer to evolve. Therefore, to prevent the toxic build up of sodium and loss of potassium, sodium should be eliminated and potassium supplemented.

Accordingly, when the toxins are eliminated, cancer is cured. But I believe otherwise. Cancer has a more complicated way of evolving and not simply related to a lack of potassium. Furthermore the enema eliminates the potassium and defeats their concept.

What you get

So the regimen consists of a low fat, low salt vegetarian diet. You consume 20 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables a day and a glass of juice every hour for 13 hours. You’ll have to gulp various supplements daily including potassium. A liver extract injection would revitalize your liver to eliminate toxins. Finally, the cold coffee enema is given daily to rid your body of high sodium levels.

The price: $4000 a week ( is ridiculous) for a few months up to ten years. A licensed clinic exists in Tijuana, Mexico. You can live there for the treatment or avail a home therapy package.

Cancer research

This therapy cured cases where patients received standard and effective medical treatment simultaneously, whereas patients died when substituted with it for standard medical care.

Bottom line

I’d strongly advise you against the Gerson Cancer therapy. Apart from the risks involved, there is no scientific evidence that it could cure your cancer. The only evidence-based formula for cancer is to eat 5 to 10  varieties of fruits and vegetables daily. Discard the rest of the treatment. Be wise. And save your money.
