When we hear we have cancer, we’re in disbelief! That verdict puts us on a challenging crossroad and our lives hang on the balance. One path leads to remission while the other leads to emptiness and hopelessness. Obviously, this is one of the most difficult moments in our lives. We mark our lives at this significant moment – from before and after the diagnosis.

There’s a short pause here. Before we’re tested we feel those unusual symptoms. That pain, that feeling of bladder fullness and that wanting to discharge urine but nothing comes out. Our urine is obstructed by the prostate mass. We’re constantly fatigued. We want to get to the bottom of this. So finally, we seek the doctor’s help. more…

Cranberries evoke memories of Thanksgiving. That juicy stuffed turkey is surely served with delicious cranberry sauce. We’ve probably heard that cranberries prevent urinary tract infections. It appears that they can help some women. But it isn’t really a treatment. Now, cancer research discovered that cranberries can fight cancer. So why not consume cranberries not only on thanksgiving but the whole year through?

These bright red gems are native to North America. Cranberries grow just above water. In earlier times, whalers and mariners carried cranberries on their ships. These small ruby berries are chockfull of vitamin C which prevent scurvy. Plus they are a rich source of fiber. more…

Who haven’t eaten potato lately? Mashed, French fried or in any which way. Solanum tuverosum, its scientific name, is an edible tuber that originated from southern montagne Andes of South America. The wild species originated from Peru. It’s one of the oldest crop humankind have cultivated, as far back as 7 to 10 thousand years ago. Worldwide, potato is the fourth largest food crop after rice, wheat and corn. Dishes around the world cook this versatile tuber in various ways.

The potato is a functional food. But researches show that the cancer fighting properties of the potato is hidden in the skin. So if we’ve eaten French fries or mashed potatoes lately with the skin stripped off, the cancer fighting phytochemicals are stripped off too. An estimated 30,000 people descend In Bunol at the sunny Valencia region to celebrate the festival of tomatoes. In a spirit of merry making, people throw tomatoes at each other. Definitely, it’s the biggest food fight in the world! Imagine the spectacle and smell of squished and smashed tomatoes with the rich red pigment splattered everywhere. It looks like a lot of waste.
