In our quest to overcome cancer, we seek food sources that we think can help. We sometimes think that just popping a pill will get us over it.

But fighting cancer – a complex and perplexing disease – isn’t that simple! The treatment and its dreadful side-effects; pain and that miserable feeling; and the continuing fight are enough to make us give up. Truly, we need loads of courage and help!

Craving a sugary soda or chocolate chip cookies? You can’t argue that sweet and fatty snacks are very tempting when we are tired and stressed! There’s nothing wrong with the occasional sweet treat especially with Halloween just ended. We still have those bowls of candies, chocolates, cookies and sweet treats. There’d been many years of research, lots of money invested and still no cure! There’d been a lot of talk about new drugs only to find out that it isn’t as good as it promised. There’s something in the new drug that is inefficient.

Why is it so difficult to treat cancer? That is the crucial question. In response, cancer researchers of the planet have desperately brought in new means to fight cancer.

Clearly, we need all the help we can get to fight cancer. To be successful, we need to detect cancer at the earliest stage. Now, here comes a welcome but unusual help from our four legged friend. Our dog may have an efficient and effective tool that we don’t have – his nose! Really! Makes us laugh out loud by now!

The Scent of Cancer

For 30 years, cancer research studies have known that cancer cells exude tiny amounts of alkanes and benzene derivatives. These by-products of cancer cells aren’t produced by healthy tissues. What’s unfortunate is there isn’t any machine that can detect these chemicals at so low level. It’s really quite difficult to verify the possibility. more…
