MangosteenphotoI was surfing the web for some anti-cancer foods when a mangosteen ad caught my eye. Known as the queen of fruit, Mangosteen grows in Southeast Asia and in other tropical countries. An exotic fruit, it comes a long way for us here at temperate countries.

Legend has it that Queen Victoria was desperate to taste mangosteen. She offered a reward of 100 pounds and even knighthood to anyone who can provide her the fruit. Despite the incentive, none of her subjects even the most enterprising was able to bring her mangosteen. more…

Belly and beer
Does a beer belly reflect a bigger prostate mass? I became aware of this during by the presentation of Dr. Nilesh Patil at the American Urology Association in San Francisco. Dr. Patil concluded that fatter men have a larger prostate tumor mass. A urologist at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, he based this conclusion from 3,300 surgical procedures on prostate glands. However, there had been a large variation in each group that lowers the impact of the data. more…

My team mate discovered a video that simplifies fighting cancer growth. It was presented in simple terms by William Li, president of Angiogenesis Foundation. This non-profit organization is re-conceptualizing the global fight against cancer.

What is Angiogenesis?

The concept of angiogenesis was discovered 40 years ago by the late Dr. Judah Folkman. Angiogenesis means sourcing out nutriments through the growth of blood vessels. William Li presented a new way of battling cancer – anti-angiogenesis through the food we eat. more…
